In the beginning there was Jack … and Jack had a groove
His love for music unfolded at a young age. Breakdance, EDM, Acid House, and Trance were the first genres of electronic music he encountered. The passion he brought as a dancer to the dance floor eventually led him to find his passion for house music.
This aptly describes the sound of DJ CHI.
His music is characterized by hypnotic vocals and funky house beats, always groovy with the right punch. The native of Kassel has refined this groove in his residencies such as Stammheim and has made it known beyond the borders of Kassel.
DJ Chi has been moving people to dance for decades and making every dance floor tremble in ecstasy. His sought-after house sound has led him to perform at renowned festivals such as Love Parade, Nature One, and Time Warp, as well as in many cities (Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt), where he presented his sound in clubs like Tresor, U60311, Kater, Distillery, Airport and Palazzo.
In his capacity as a resident DJ, he can be consistently found performing at the Muuuuhnlight Festival, the Familienfeier events at Graf Karl, . Furthermore, he frequently graces various clubs and bars in the city with his distinctive DJ sets.
His current release on Jackfruit Traxx – DJ CHI – Your Love EP is a 90s style house basher with a hypnotic vocal. Garnished by an ingenious remix by Nils Ohrmann.
Older releases on My Favorite Freaks Music and Jackfruit Recordings are successful collaborations with his DJ colleagues M.in and Dompe, which further refine his unmistakable house sound and earn him recognition from renowned artists such as Claptone.
In the meantime, there is also a documentary (2012) about the Stammheim (1994-2002), a successful novel „Wir waren Schall und Rauch“ (2025) by Jasmin Moll and a play performed on the interim stage of the Staatstheater Kassel (2026).
